Originating in the 1950s and 1960s, these tiles were a popular decorative material used in over 80% of the city's buildings, according to a 1984 survey. Though often overlooked, the tile is a quintessential symbol of Hong Kong's bygone era. The artwork has masterfully captured the essence of this material by using acrylic paint to painstakingly recreate its intricate textures and patterns.
