SPLASH is audacious, dynamic, and multiplex. We, the AVA graduates, are the dashing masses of creativity who splash new energy into the local art scene. “SPLASH: AVA Graduation Exhibition 2012” will showcase 85 emerging artists who are enthusiastic, playful, daring, and open-minded in a variety of manners.

The graduation exhibition will be held at the Kai Tak campus of the Hong Kong Baptist University. Bringing refreshing waves of contemporary art to the historic building, the AVA received the 2010 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Culture Heritage Conservation. Moreover, through this exhibition, our expressive surge will fill the site with a variety of creative works that will take us into a new realm of contemporary art.

We are splashes of water – the disquieting forces that embrace fine arts and design together and see no boundaries between different media and genres. Throughout our three year education, we have absorbed inspiring energies from a range of art forms, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, new media, mixed media, comics, ink art, ceramics, glass art, and 2-D or 3-D designs. By intensively working on a single medium or playing around with various media, we have formed 2 new tides of contemporary art that celebrate the infinite possibilities of art making. Our works are the explosive splatters that arouse public attention to diverse issues in art and culture, and enable viewers to experience the thunderous swash of creativity.
